Here is a photo of the modern day Longhorn from the files of the Texas Longhorn Breeder Association of America. It is the direct descendant of the cattle that were once herded up the historic Great Western Trail.
The history of these marvelous animals is tightly woven into the story of the settlement of the west. They are a very important link to who we are and why we are here. Without them, Texas would not have become the great State that it is, and the west would have not introduced the kind of culture that it did. Their very existence can be said to have changed the history of this nation.
